Concrete cutting
in Inner West

The Inner West is renovation country. Victorian terraces, workers’ cottages and old warehouse shells, most of them being opened up, extended or converted — and nearly all of it double brick with a sandstone footing and a neighbour sharing the wall.

Local work

What we get called out for in Inner West

01

Terrace extensions

Saw cuts through old slabs and footings where the new addition ties into the original, cut square so the builder can set out off it.

02

Warehouse conversions

Slab penetrations, wall openings and core holes in industrial shells being turned into homes and studios.

03

Rewires and switchboard upgrades

Chases in double brick for mains, sub-mains and new circuits, cut with extraction so an occupied house stays liveable.

04

Bathroom and kitchen refits

Waste and water cores through suspended floors and brick walls, sized to the pipe going in.

05

Granny flats and studios

Driveway and path cuts for services and access to new secondary dwellings out the back.

06

Dual occupancy work

Cutting and coring for separating walls, meters and services when one dwelling becomes two.

Getting to you

Access, parking, paperwork

Terraces mean no off-street parking, shared walls and neighbours a metre away. We keep the noisy work inside sensible hours, sheet up before we start in an occupied house, and run extraction on everything so the dust does not end up two doors down.

Questions

Working in Inner West

Can you cut a shared wall in a terrace?

Chasing a party wall is normal work, within limits — we cut to the conduit and no deeper, and we keep clear of anything structural. If what is being asked would weaken the wall, we will tell you before we start rather than after.

Will the neighbours coming through the wall be an issue?

Noise and vibration carry in a terrace. We work standard hours unless you have arranged otherwise, and it is worth giving the neighbour a heads-up the day before.

Do you work in an occupied house?

Often. Dust extraction on the tools, floor protection down, and we clean up as we go so the place is livable at the end of the day.
