Holes from 20mm to 600mm

Core
drilling

Round, clean, exactly where it's marked. We core through walls, floors and ceilings for plumbing and hydraulic penetrations, ducting, electrical risers, drainage and structural anchors — in reinforced concrete, brick, block and stone.

What it covers

What we core

01

Plumbing & hydraulics

Penetrations for waste, water and gas lines through slabs and walls, sized to the pipe and sleeve.

02

HVAC & ducting

Air-conditioning pipe runs, exhaust and ventilation penetrations, cored to the diameter the installer needs.

03

Electrical & data

Risers and service holes between floors and through fire-rated walls, ready for the sparky.

04

Balustrades & handrails

Accurate footing holes for posts and stanchions, drilled to depth and plumb.

05

Anchors & starter bars

Holes for chemical anchors, dowels and starter bars where the engineer marks them.

06

Drainage & pits

Cores through slabs and retaining walls for stormwater, ag lines and pit connections.

How the job runs

Start to finish

  1. 01

    Size and position confirmed

We work off the pipe, sleeve or fixing that is going in, not a guess — 20mm to 600mm, marked and checked before the bit touches anything.

  2. 02

    Scan first where it matters

In a suspended slab or a post-tensioned floor, what is inside the concrete decides whether the hole can go where it is marked. Post-tensioned slabs get scanned, always.

  3. 03

    Rig anchored and sealed

The stand is anchored or vacuum-mounted so the barrel runs true, and ring-sealed on finished floors so water goes into the vac and nowhere else.

  4. 04

    Core out, hole clean

The core comes out in one piece, the hole gets cleaned, and the plumber or sparky behind us can sleeve straight into it.

What it costs

What moves
the price

Coring is priced per hole, by diameter and depth, with the count mattering more than anything. Ten holes on one visit costs far less each than one hole on ten visits. Heavy reinforcement slows the bit and costs more; overhead coring takes longer than floor coring; and a hole that needs scanning first carries that cost too. Access and floor level change the price the same way they do on any cutting job.

Have this ready when you call

  • How many holes, and the diameter of each
  • What thickness you are going through
  • Wall, floor or ceiling — and whether it is overhead
  • Whether the slab is post-tensioned, if you know
  • Water and power availability
  • Hydraulic or services drawings if there are any

None of it is essential — we can work it out on the phone. It just gets you a firm price faster.

Questions

Core drilling, answered

What size holes can you core?

Anywhere from 20mm up to 600mm. If you need something bigger than that, it usually becomes a saw cut rather than a core, and we can do that too — call and we will tell you which way is cheaper.

Can you core through reinforced concrete?

Yes. Diamond core bits cut straight through rebar. If the slab is heavily reinforced or post-tensioned, tell us before we start — post-tensioned slabs need scanning first, and we will not core one blind.

Will water go everywhere?

No. Wet coring uses a small amount of water that gets vacuumed straight back up, and we ring-seal the drill on finished floors. On sites where water is a problem we core dry with extraction instead.

Can you core in an apartment or strata building?

Yes, and we do it often. Bring us the building rules and booked times and we will work to them — we are insured, and SWMS go to the building manager on request.

Need core drilling done?

Quickest way to a price is a phone call. We answer on site.
